- GUM
- A non-resinous vegetable secretion from various trees or plants that hardens in air. Soluble in water. See Arabic Gum, Senegal Gum.
- Arabic Gum
- Produced from Acacia (chiefly Acacia Vera and Acacia Arabica in Africa and Southern Asia. Also known as gum acacia. Also used as a food additive.
- Australian Gum
- Similar to Arabic Gum. Has a reddish color, possibly due to tannin. Also known as Wattle gum. Exuded by the Golden Wattle A. pycnantha Benth., a shrub found in New South Wales, Southern Australia and Victoria.
- Barbary Gum (B.G)
- Exuded by the Moroccan A. Nilotica, similar to Arabic gum.
