Broken Glass and auction packaging |
---|
The glass has a Hillston Crystal label and is from range known as the "Crystal Suite". A similar hunting design appeared in their catalogue 26 (c1952) & 29 (c.1955) it does not appear in 1959. The base tankard does not show in 26 or 29 but does show in their 1930's catalogues. The hunting design in 1930's was a different again so this tankard can be assumed to be post war say 1948-51. Origin of the tankard is probably European. The mug was squeezed into this box with just a thin layer of bubble wrap. It probably got smashed before it even reached the post office... you can see the dent in the cardboard (top of top picture) where the handle pressed into the side of the box. Scroll down to read the correspondence. |

The story of a Paypal claim. I sent pictures to two different email addresses.. The seller claims never to have received them and also claimed that they could not see the web page. Well... either they are lying or they have such a lousy computer that they should not be able to get on-line. Yet they can sell on eBay. I sent payment of 5.99 including postage to: Leslie Belcher, Earlier correspondence not located, I basically advised seller it was smashed but got no reaction until filing an Paypal claim. The claim ran its course but as Paypal advised the seller insisted that the item be returned to them at my expense - realising that tracked postage would cost more than the claim. I had agreed to settle on 2.50 so that at least this **** person had an opportunity to show some apology for the ignorance of their packing skills 4th July. I sent pictures to seller at leedsutd2000@hotmail.com From leslie belcher 13th July still havent received the pictures of the smashed tankard, 14th July Sent pictures to seller at funny-house5@hotmail.co.uk 14th July: I wrote to seller: I resent them, (above pictures) please confirm you got them. Thanks.
Regards 14th July response by leslie belcher ok 17th July: I added the web page (without this story) wrote: Did you get my reply and attachments? 17th July response Leslie Belcher no cant get pictures up.but did you get my last message offering you half of the money back what you paid? which is £2.50 17th July again I wrote: Yes I did, and replied but obviously my mails do not reach you at either of your addresses! Anyway you must be able to see the pictures on-line now and I accepted your offer of 2.50. 17th July Belcher again no dont know whats up with the my computer i will pay the money into your paypal account .is that ok And this person manages to sell via eBay! 18th July Leslie Belcher what will happens to the paypal compaint , 18th July again I wrote: Once I get the money I will close the claim. 19th July last chance to complete I wrote 19th July Belcher's last lie: hi Of course the money never arrived! His computer never managed to see this web page and emails sent to him never arrived... ...he knows that he can insist on the items return by recorded delivery and that this is likely to cost more than the claim. He reckons he got clean away with it. Now, I have to file a claim in Holland and this will eventually lead to the seller expenses way above the 2.50 I was willing to settle on. It is unlikely that I can get the money from the courtsd here but the court order will be on theit credit records and International bad credit reports cost an arm and a leg to have removed. Yes, it will cost me to file the claim but this has now become a question of principle - dishonest people like Lesley only get away with it because the system is messy and deters people from trying. The moral of the story, this person lies so buying from them is very risky. They cannot be bothered to pack stuff properly as all they want is your money. If you do buy from them and things go wrong you have lost. No doubt they will suffer in eternity. Paypal also have to answer as their claims of buyer protection have proved to be misleading, there is no notice on the adverts or supporting rules to warn "Claims may cost the buyer more than the value of any claim"... no updates while this is all sub-judice. |
